4.2 Cleaning the bowl

4.2

Cleaning the bowl

The separated sludge is accumulating on the
inside surface of the separator bowl. How often
the separator needs to be cleaned, depends on
the amount of sediment entering the separator.
High solids content or high throughput has the
consequence that the cleaning need to be done
more often.

Guidelines for emptying intervals:

Marine diesel oil - 1 week

Lubricating oil - 1 day

Intervals for a specific case must be based on
experience.

4.2.1

Removal of separated
sludge

Remove the sludge collected on the inside of the
bowl as follows:

1.

Stop the separator.

2.

Raise the collecting cover open. For
instructions, see chapter

‘‘6 Dismantling/

Assembly” on page 81

.

WARNING

Entrapment hazards

Make sure that rotating parts have come to a

complete standstill

before starting

any

dismantling work.

The revolution counter and the motor fan
indicate if the separator is rotating or not.
