Operating the FAIM
5.1 Jumper Configuration
Before powering a system containing an FAIM, the jumpers must be set for proper
operation. Failure to do so before applying power could damage the system.

Description
Jumper
5.1.1 FAI Mode (J1)
This jumper enables the latching mode for the FAIM. The latching mode
causes the FAIM’s outputs to latch in the off mode when a valid input is
received - even if the input it removed. A separate NC reset contact is
required to reset the FAIM. In addition to this jumper setting, a specific wiring
method is required to use the latching feature. See Appendix A for details on
wiring the FAIM’s input terminals in the latching mode.
5.1.2 B2 Buss Connection (J2)
This jumper connects the FAIM’s output to the B2 buss of the ABC
connector. This allows for bulk switching of distributed outputs using PD8(F)
modules. This option is for single voltage systems only - if any other supply
or accessory board is connecting a voltage to the B2 buss, this jumper MUST
be in the DOWN position or damage to the system may occur.
5.1.3 FAI Buss Connection (J3)
This jumper connects a control signal to the FAI buss of the ABC connector.
This allows control of FAI-enabled accessory boards, such as the MB8(F) or
CMB8(F).
