............................ 28 VDC, 4.0 A max. (only the XCVR requires power)
Application Note
This note documents the typical current draw requirements for typical AirCell
®
ST 3100 system
installed.
A typical install would be a single AirCell
®
ST 3100 Transceiver, standard antenna, and a single
standard Handset.
Actual values should be measured and recorded for each system installation.
Description:
28 VDC
Standby
<0.30A
Transmit Ave
<0.50A
Transmit Peak, approx 10% duty cycle <2.3A
Transceiver Heaters
<2.8A
•
Transmit Peak: The AirCell
®
ST 3100 Transceiver is a pulsed mode system. The duty cycle of
the transmitter is 8.3 msec per 90 msec, or just under 10%.
•
Transceiver Heaters: When the temperature on the inside of the Transceiver is < -20C / -4F, the
heaters will turn on. For example, on a 28 VDC system, the heaters will draw an additional 2.8 A.
At full power transmit, the Average Current is 0.5A plus 2.8A, or 3.3A. Please note that in
general, the transceivers are warm enough, even if located outside of the temperature-controlled
cabin. The heaters generally won’t be on.
•
Additional Handsets will add about 100 milliampere (mA) each to the current load of the system.
