6.7. RULES FOR DRIVING ON ROADS
DANGER!
Driving on private and public roads.
For road transport the fertilizer spreader must be connected to the tractor as described in this
manual. Incorrect hitching may affect the vehicle’s stability when braking. Moreover, observe the
traffic rules in force in the country in question. Before driving, all moving parts must be checked
and secured in the correct position, the machine must be clean, correctly serviced and in perfect
working condition, and all lights must be working (headlights, indicators, brake lights...).
DANGER!
Speed.
The machine must be driven at speed that is suitable for the conditions of the terrain (flat and
solid ground), with the load always visible. Avoid sudden acceleration and braking, and tight
cornering at high speed. The machine or the tractor may roll over, and movement of the load
- consisting of the machine and any materials to be spread - must not be underestimated. The
maximum speed allowed in optimum conditions is 40 km/h. Never exceed 5 km/h in reverse. Fatal
accidents may occur when travelling as a result of failing to observe the rules or even simple
distraction.
Transporting the machine
s¬
When driving on public roads, always obey national traffic laws.
s¬
Before moving the machine, check
- that the power supply lines are connected correctly
- that the lights are not damaged, are working and are clean
- that there are no visible defects in the braking and hydraulic system
- that the parking brake is completely disengaged
- that the brakes are working
s¬
Always verify that the tractor has sufficient steering and braking capacity.
s¬
Machines towed and braked by the tractor, and front and rear ballast all affect road behaviour and the tractor’s steering and
braking capacity.
s¬
The tractor’s front axle must always support at least 20% of the tractor’s empty weight to ensure sufficient steering capacity.
s¬
Always apply front or rear ballast to the points of attachment provided, following the instructions.
s¬
Observe the useful load of the machine carried or towed by the tractor, and the tractor’s admissible axial load and carrying
capacity.
s¬
The tractor must ensure the deceleration required for the towed system (tractor plus machine).
s¬
Check the brakes before setting off.
s¬
When cornering with the machine carried or towed, always keep in mind the ample swing and centrifugal mass of the machine.
s¬
Before moving the machine, check that the bottom connecting bars on the tractor are suitably blocked from moving sideways if
the machine is coupled to the three-point hitch hydraulic system or to the bottom connecting bars on the tractor.
s¬
Before moving the machine, move all the tipping parts of the machine into the position for transport.
s¬
Before moving the machine, fasten all the tipping parts of the machine in the position for transport, to avoid danegours shifts in
position. For this purpose, use the transport saftey devices provided.
s¬
Before moving the machine, block the control lever on the three-point hitch hydraulic system to prevent the towed machine from
being accidentally lifted or lowered.
