The
E5100A/B
has
a
status
reporting
system
to
report
the
condition
of
the
instrument.
Status
bytes
consists
of
8-bit
registers
,
each
bit
represents
specic
instrument
conditions
.
The
value
of
the
status
byte
can
be
read
by
using
SPOLL(717)
statement
from
an
external
controller
.
This
command
reads
value
directly
from
the
E5100A/B
without
being
set
to
remote
.
So
,
you
can
operate
front
panel
keys
while
a
controller
is
reading
the
status
byte
.
Contents
of
the
status
byte
can
also
be
read
by
using
the
*STB?
command.
Reading
the
status
byte
has
no
eect
on
the
contents
of
the
status
byte
.
