4.3.3 RF C
ONNECTIONS
The following RF connections have to be made at the system:
•
Coaxial cable No. 1 between (J1) of unit B and left side of splitter (output #1).
•
Coaxial cable No. 2 between (J1) of unit A and right side of splitter (output #2).
•
Coaxial cable (not supplied) between RF source and input of splitter.
CAUTION:
Beware of destructive Pin Depth of Mating Connector.
When an RF
component connector is mated with a connector having a destructive pin depth, damage will
usually occur to the RF mating connector. A destructive pin depth is one that is too long in
respect to the reference plane of the connector. The center pin of the connectors used by
ADVANTECH has a precision tolerance measured in mils (1/1000 inch). The mating
connectors of various suppliers may not be precision types. Consequently, the center pins of
these devices may not have the proper depth.
•
RF output monitor (J4) - Type ‘N’ Female provided at the top of each SSPA. User needs
Type ‘N’ male on interface connection.
NOTE
:
Wrap the mastic tape (provided in the shipping kit) around all connectors in order to
prevent water/humidity ingress and resultant damage. Squeeze the tape tightly and ensure that
both ends of the tape have formed around the connector and the cable.

ONSIDERATIONS
Each unit is cooled by forced air. The cooling fan is configured for 220 VAC operation.
Depending on environmental conditions, the airflow opening may become obstructed by debris,
reducing the efficiency of the cooling system. Inspect the unit periodically to ensure that the grill
of the fan intake and all openings on the unit are free of any obstructions. Insufficient air cooling
will significantly impact SSPA longevity.
NOTE: The rotating speed of the cooling fan is temperature dependent.
