6.2 Secure the Unit
At the conclusion of successful turn up and testing, the unit must be secured using the
following procedure.
1. Close the GPON 452/454 door while checking for interference and ensuring all cables
are properly positioned. Do not force the door closed.
2. Tighten the captive security hex head screw with the security tool (216-Type can
wrench). The cover is secure when the screw reaches the bottom of its travel. Do not
overtighten.
Installation of the unit is now complete. The unit is ready for service.
6.3 Test for POTS Line Faults
Look at the “TELEPHONE TROUBLESHOOTING” instructions on the front of the Electronics
Module for directions in determining line faults.

If the problem is still not corrected, it is possible there is an internal wiring problem with the
residence.
6.4 Provision Ethernet Interface at OLT
Provision and unlock the Ethernet port to be used at the OLT. For the provisioned Ethernet
link, use external equipment (for example, a laptop computer) to verify the Ethernet link is
active.
