C.4.1 Line Conditioner UPS System
The ferro-resonant UPS system is commonly used as backup power in
CCTV systems. This UPS system uses a constant-voltage ferro-resonant
transformer and line-sensing circuitry to regulate power.
When the incoming power is stable, the UPS transformer cleans up the
raw line power, eliminating spikes, dips, surges, noise, and minor
brownouts. Should the power source fail to any extent, the ferro-resonant
transformer initially provides energy from its magnetic field and
capacitor circuits, then activates batteries to provide uninterrupted
power.
