Viewing and Managing Your Backup Files
Managing the Backup Database
Adaptec File Saver uses a special file called the
backup database
to
speed up performance. The backup database contains a small
record for every backup file. The record contains information such
as file size, attributes, and modification times.
Note:
You should be an advanced user before attempting to
manage the backup database.
Validating the Backup Database
You can validate the backup database and check for corrupted files.
You might want to do this if a virus has been detected and removed
from your computer, and you want to ensure that your files have
been correctly restored by the virus scanner.
To validate the backup database:

Open the Tree view, following the instructions in

Tools
menu, select
Advanced
, then select
Validate
Storage
.
Adaptec File Saver examines the backup database for valid
information. Any corrupted files are displayed in red font in the
view window, and are listed in the Exceptions view (see
Compacting the Backup Database
If the
Compress files in the backup storage
setting (see
has been set to
Disabled
, you can compact the backup database.
To initiate an immediate compact of the backup database:
