Changing Your Backup Settings

Selecting Backup Items by Excluding Common File Categories

Adaptec File Saver has a list of predefined file categories that you
can use to exclude files from backup. This is an easy way to back
up everything except the types of files you select.

To select backup items by excluding file categories:

1

Open the Adaptec File Saver window by clicking the icon on
your desktop or system tray.

2

In the main menu (shown on page

page 2-2

), click

Change

Backup Settings.

3

Select

Advanced Settings

, then click

Next

.

The Advanced Settings window opens.

4

Select

Backup wizard - Select by excluding common file

categories

, then click

Next

.

The Exclude Common File Categories window opens, listing
the predefined file categories you can choose from.

Within each category, specific file types are listed, as shown for
the Internet and HTML category in the Figure on

page 3-11

You can choose to exclude the whole category or just specific
file types within a category.
