Changing Your Backup Settings
■
Compress files in the backup storage
—When this setting is
selected, Adaptec File Saver compresses files that are backed
up, if possible. By default, this setting is selected. Clear this
setting to turn compression off.
Note:
For better computer performance, lower the
compression level.
When you restore a compressed file, Adaptec File Saver
automatically decompresses the file to its original state.
Changing the Versions Settings
By default, Adaptec File Saver creates one version of a backup file
every 24 hours, or 1440 minutes. (Therefore, on any given day, the
only version of a file that is backed up is the last version you save
for that day.) Also by default, Adaptec File Saver retains five
versions of each backup file.
On the Versions tab of the Advanced Settings window, you can
change both these settings to suit your needs. For instance, you can
set Adaptec File Saver to retain 10 versions of each backup file, or
to create new versions each time you save a file instead of just once
a day.
■
To edit the number of versions saved, see
.
■
To edit the minimum time between versions, see
.
Note:
Versions are numbered from 0 to N - 1, where 0 is the
individual version and N is the total number of versions
backed up. Adaptec File Saver holds each version in its own
subfolder, and reuses these subfolders in a loop. Backup files
remain in a subfolder until overwritten by a newer version.
The oldest version is overwritten first.
