ENGLISH
A 30 A/h battery recommended.
While the engine is running: key in the ON
position; when the engine is stopped: key in
the OFF position (fi g. 3).
Periodically lubricate the starting motor
pinion with a suitable grease.
All engines are equipped with a stationary
lobe decompressor.
WARM ENGINE START
(when engine is
still warm after recent running).
Repeat the same operations as for cold
- there will be an approximate deration of
2% every 5°C above 20°C (2% for every
9 F. above 68 F): check frequently to
assure that the cooling system is clean and
clear of debris.
NOTE: If the engine is remotely controlled,
follow the equipment manufacturer’s instruc-
tions for remote control position.
MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES
(ALWAYS
perform maintenance procedures with the
engine off, the spark plug cable disconnected,
and negative terminal of the battery discon-
nected (if electric start).
A periodic maintenance is absolutely necessary
to guarantee performance, reliability and
long engine life.
CAUTION: For engines with electric start,
always remove the key from the control
board on the engine.
OIL LEVEL CHECK: Make sure engine is
in a level position. BEFORE EVERY USE
CHECK the oil level in the engine case
(fi g. 12). If necessary add oil of the quality
described in Fig. 4.
EVERY 8 HOURS:
MAINTENANCE OF
THE AIR FILTER.
PAPER CARTRIDGE TYPE: remove the air
fi lter cover, the pre-fi lter (A) and the paper
cartridge (B) (fi g. 14).
- FOAM PRE-FILTER (A): wash with luke
warm water and lather-free detergent, rinse
thoroughly, let the pre-fi lter dry in the air.
- PAPER CARTRIDGE TYPE (B): tap lightly
on a hard surface to remove any dust
deposits, or blow low-pressure compressed
air from the inside out.
Replace the foam pre-fi lter and the cartridge
if damaged or too dirty.
OIL BATH TYPE: Loosen nut (A) remove lid
(B) and fi lter (C) (fi g. 13).
- Wash the fi lter in luke warm water and
lather-free detergent, rinse thoroughly, let
it air dry.
- Drain the oil from the fi lter sump and remove
dust and dirt.
- Fill the air fi lter sump up to the given level
with the same oil used for the engine.
- Install everything in reverse order from how
it was removed.
Carry out the air fi lter maintenance operation
more frequently if the engine is used in a
DUSTY ENVIRONMENT.
Do not let the engine run without the air fi lter.
The engine will wear out very quickly.
WARNING: TEMPERATURE OF
MUFFLER AND NEARLY AREAS IS
HIGH. AVOID TOUCHING THEM
DO NOT LET THE ENGINE IDLE FOR A LONG
TIME.
ENGINE STOPPING
Close the fuel valve (fi g. 7), idle a few
minutes, to allow the engine to cool push the
STOP button (fi g. 11), or turn off the key on
electric start versions.
OPERATING UNDER SPECIAL ENVIRON-
MENTAL CONDITIONS
The engine performance falls (Approximate
Derations):
- 1% every 100 m, above sea level (1% per
325 Ft. Altitude above sea level). Less fuel
is required at higher altitude, consumption,
performance improves while reducing the
main jet size and acting on the idle mixture
adjusting screw. Air/fuel ratio which is too
lean reduces the engine power and causes
overheating. Performance improves by
adjusting the main jet and air fl ow.
CAUTION: Any adjustments to the carburetor
should be performed at an ACME authorized
service center.
