REM 543 Protection,
Monitoring and Control
Technical Reference Manual
Part 1, General
ABB Network Partner
4.1.4.
Auxiliary voltage
For its operation the REM 543 terminal requires a secured auxiliary voltage supply.
The machine terminal’s internal power supply module forms the voltages required by
the machine terminal electronics. The power supply module is a galvanically isolated
(flyback-type) DC/DC converter. A green protection indication LED on the front panel
is lit when the power supply module is in operation.
4.1.4.1.
Power supply versions
The power supply module PS1/_ is available for the REM 543. The module is available
in two versions with identical output voltages but different input voltages. The input
voltage range of the power supply module is marked on the front panel of the machine
terminal. The power supply version is specified by a letter combination in the hardware
version ID number of REM 543 (refer to section "Type designations and hardware
number").
Auxiliary voltages of the power supply versions are:
The primary side of the power supply module is protected with a fuse, F1, located on
the PCB of the module. The fuse size is 2 A or 8 A (slow) (PS_ /48 V)(PS_ /240 V).
For further technical data of the power supply, please refer to section "Technical Data".
4.1.4.2.
Low auxiliary voltage indication
The REM 543 machine terminal is provided with a low auxiliary voltage indication fea-
ture. The power supply module issues an internal alarm signal when a drop in the power
supply voltage is detected (ACFail, active low). The alarm signal is activated if the
power supply voltage falls about 10% below the lowest rated dc input voltage of the
power supply module, see table below:
The indication of a low auxiliary voltage (ACFail) is available in the machine terminal
configuration environment and can be connected to any signal output of the REM 543.
The auxiliary voltage indication in the machine terminal configuration is as follows:
PS1/240
ac/dc version with a rated input voltage of 110/120/220/240 V ac or 110/125/220 V
dc (operating range 80...265 V ac or dc)
PS1/48
dc version with a rated input voltage of 24/48/60 V dc (operating range 18...80 V dc)
Rated input voltage
Low indication level
PS1/240
Rated input voltage 110/125/ 220 V dc
