times out, the LOCKOUT LED and output relay will reset. The FAILED RECLOSE
LED and output relay remain latched until the RESET push-button is pressed or rated
dc voltage is applied to the external reset (EXT RESET) input.
a.10
Check of Drive to Lockout Input. With the relay in the “READY” mode, apply the
rated dc voltage to the drive-to-lockout (DR LOCK) input. The display will then imme-
diately indicate “LOCKOUT” with the message “Drive To Lockout” and the LOCKOUT
LED will light and LOCKOUT output relay contact will close. When the signal is re-
moved, the recloser returns to “READY”, after the “Lockout Reset” timer times out,
resetting the LOCKOUT LED and relay.
If the breaker is tripped while the DRIVE-TO-LOCKOUT input is energized, the relay
will not reset upon removal of the DRIVE-TO-LOCKOUT input. Instead the MMI will
display “LOCKOUT” with the message “52b Closed”, the LOCKOUT LED will remain
lighted and LOCKOUT output relay contact will remain closed. Manually reset the
breaker and after the “Lockout Reset” timer times out, the LOCKOUT LED and output
relay will reset.
This completes the detailed evaluation test for the REL 301/302 Recloser without Synch-check
option.

SYNCHRONISM/VOLTAGE CHECK OPTION ACCEPTANCE TEST
a.1
Check of Line and Bus Voltages Inputs. Change the “Sync Set ?” setting to “Yes”,
verify the “Sync Volt” setting is set to “Line” and verify that jumper P12, on the Filter
Module, (see I.L. 40-386.1 Figure 5-1) is in the top position. In this example V
a
is cho-
sen to be the reference, “Bus” voltage. Connect a voltage source to V
a
and V
n
“Bus”
voltage inputs (FT-1 polarity and FT-4 non-polarity). Connect another voltage source
to the V
S
and V
SR
“Line” voltage inputs (FT-10 polarity and FT-9 non-polarity). Apply
both voltages, not to exceed 75 volts (125 volts for 120 volt option) and scroll the dis-
play to “TEST” mode. Check that the voltages and angle displayed under “V Bus”, “V
Line” and “Bus-Line Angle” correspond to the inputs.
a.2
Check of HBDL LED. Apply a voltage above the setting value “VMax”, 53 volts, (90
volts for 120 volt option) to the Bus voltage input and below “VMin”, 13 volts, (22 volts
for 120 volt option) to the Line voltage input. Check that the HBDL LED is lit.
a.3
Check of HLDB LED. Apply a voltage above “VMax” to the Line voltage input and
below “VMin” voltage to the Bus voltage input. The HLDB LED should be lit.
a .4
Check of Synchronism Condition. Apply a voltage above “VMax” to both the Bus
and the Line voltage inputs. The angle between the two voltages must be less than
the “Sync Angle” setting (20
o
). Relative position of the voltages, one voltage lagging
or leading the other, is not important to establish the synchronism condition. The
SYNCHRONISM LED should light. If the phase angle between the voltages is not
within the setting value of “Sync Angle” and or one of the voltages is below “V Max”,
the condition for synchronism is not met and the SYNCHRONISM LED will not light.
