Protect the exposed part of the bearings
wrapping it with string oiled paper or with
clean rags.
Insert a sheet of presspan or strong cardboard
between the revealed faces of the stator and
rotor magnetic pack.
With the crane or the hydraulic jacks lift the
rotor sufficiently to remove the supports that
sustain it and rest the rotor on the surface of
the stator magnetic pack (protected with the
sheet of prosspan).
Remove the shields from the shaft.
Wrap a strong cardboard protection around
the end of the shaft, coupling side. Insert a
steel tube with appropriate diameter over the
protection, so as to create an extension of the
shaft, and use this to withdraw the rotor from
the stator moving end D (coupling side)
toward end N (side opposite the coupling).
This operation requires a free space with a
length equal to that of the motor.
Important: During these operations, be
very careful to avoid impacts that could
damage the active parts, the winding and
the flame arresters.
The flame arrester surfaces are to be completely
free of dents or scores or any sign of contact with
the shaft during rotation. If it is necessary to
remove flame arresters from the shaft, before
dismantling the bearings, check the roundness of
the external surface before reassembling.
Note
: The instructions for bearing removal and
reassembly, operations to be carried out with
extreme attention and care, are contained in Sheet
3AAM101047 for horizontal motors.
Motor reassembly
When reassembling the motor pay attention to the
correct positioning of the bearings. The bearing on
N side (top, opposite coupling) is ball type with
angular contact, to sustain the weight of the rotor.
The arrangement of the bearings is shown in the
drawings on page 2.
The motor is to be reassembled in the reverse
order to the steps described for dismantling.
Make sure that all connections or screw fastenings
inside the motor are well tightened and fitted with
the relevant locking devices.
Warning! To avoid damage to the bearings by
impact, remember to lock the ends of the shaft,
mounting the anti-rotation lock before lifting the
reassembled motor and placing it in vertical
position.
