Extruder assembling
As for any maintenance duty, following few key rules will get you a good performing machine:
•
Keep you work area (were you will be performing extruder assembling) clean: powder, metal shavings, abrasive
sand may compromise extruder performance
•
Printer must be turned OFF, with ALL heating parts at room temperature
•
Don't stress the extruder cables ( do not flex or apply torsion to
cable entry into heater part)
Procedure:
1. Be sure that nozzle (part 000 007 113) will be suitably
clean: if it has been already used, any plastic remains must
not protrude from nozzle/threaded part
2. Fit the nozzle to the heater body, twisting until you have
1mm between hex part of the nozzle and the heater body
(Fig.29)
3. Extruder has two mounting options: NORMAL, when printing
temperature won't exceed 255°C (PLA,PVA,HIPS,
Elastomers, most ABS and PA) and HOT, when you want to
fully use the thermal capabilities of extruder, up to 410°C.
The options are obtained with the mounting position of the
stainless steel pipe (fig 31/32). WARNING: if you heat the
extruder above 260°C when mounted in NORMAL position
you risk permanent damage of the inner PTFE coating.
4. Put the extruder assembly on the printer (fiug.30)
tightening screw(1) then holding heater body(2) with your
fingers and finally tightening nozzle (3)
5. Now you need to perform XY and Z calibration of nozzles.
