Finding the NIC’s Port Address
In a NetWare environment, you must know the NIC’s port
address (base I/O address) to install the driver when there
are multiple NICs in a server. To find the port address,
follow these steps:
1 Make a note of the NIC’s node (MAC) address.
The address (a number such as A02461179) is located
on the NIC label.
2 Start DOS using the appropriate procedure in
Table 3-2.
3 Insert
TokenDisk
diskette #1 in the floppy drive and
make that the active drive.
4 At the DOS prompt, enter:
3tlvdiag
5 When the 3Com 3TLVDIAG main menu appears,
select
Adapter Configuration
, and press [Enter].
The Adapters Found in System screen appears, listing
all installed 3C339 PCI NICs and their node addresses.
Locate the node address you noted earlier. This is the NIC
whose port address you need.
6 Select the NIC whose port address you need and
press [Enter].
The Adapter Configuration screen appears with the base
I/O address shown as a four-digit hexadecimal number.
This is the port address.
Installing NetWare Drivers
This section describes how to install NetWare drivers in
these networking situations:
■
One NIC in a client (DOS ODI environment)
■
One NIC in a server
■
Multiple NICs in a server
When you install drivers, you can set certain parameters.
For details, see Table A-1.
