FIELD DESCRIPTION
Active Press [SPACE BAR] and select Yes (to enable) or No (to disable) traffic redirect
setup. The default is No .
When the Active field is Yes , you must configure every field in this screen unless
you are using PPPoE encapsulation (except Check WAN IP Address and
Timeout ).
If you don’t configure these fields and are using PPPoE encapsulation, then the
Prestige checks the PPPoE channel to determine if the WAN connection is down.
Configuration:
Backup Gateway
IP Address Enter the IP address of your backup gateway in dotted decimal notation.
The Prestige automatically forwards traffic to this IP address if the Prestige’s
Internet connection terminates.
Metric This field sets this route's priority among the routes the Prestige uses.
The metric represents the "cost of transmission". A router determines the best route
for transmission by choosing a path with the lowest "cost". RIP routing uses hop
count as the measurement of cost, with a minimum of "1" for directly connected
networks. The number must be between "1" and "15"; a number greater than "15"
means the link is down. The smaller the number, the lower the "cost".
When you have completed this menu, press [ENTER] at the prompt “Press [ENTER] to confirm or [ESC]
to cancel” to save your configuration or press [ESC] to cancel and go back to the previous screen.
