Preface

Congratulations on your purchase of the NetAtlas Enterprise Ethernet Switch Manager for the 
supported ZyXEL Ethernet switches. The Ethernet Switch Manager is an Element 
Management System (EMS) that retrieves management information from switches using 
SNMP.

Note:

About This User's Guide

This manual is designed to guide you through the configuration of your EMS for its 
applications. 

Syntax Conventions

• “Enter” means for you to type one or more characters. “Select” or “Choose” means for 

you to use one of the predefined choices.

• The SMT menu titles and labels are in 

Bold Times New Roman

 font. Predefined field 

choices are in 

Bold Arial

 font. Command and arrow keys are enclosed in square 

brackets

. [ENTER]

 means the Enter, or carriage return key; 

[ESC]

 means the Escape key 

and 

[SPACE BAR]

 means the Space Bar.

• Mouse action sequences are denoted using an angle bracket “>”. For example, “click the

this User’s guide.

• Unless otherwise specified, the supported ZyXEL Ethernet switches being managed by 

the EMS will be referred to as “the switch” or “the device” in this User’s Guide.
