Installation of New

E-Clip (#4) and Adjustment

Pin (#3)

- Continued

3.  Remove the ratchet bar clamp to

release the jaws. Turn the tool over

to expose the other side of the pin.

The groove in the pin should be

above the surface of the tool. Place

the E-Clip (#4) on the surface of

the tool with its opening positioned

around the

groove in

the pin. Use

needle nose

pliers to push

the E-Clip

onto the pin

until it snaps

into place. (Note: The E-Clip will

rotate freely but should not come

off without prying with force.)

Apply a lubricant to the moving

parts. Perform a crimp and check

with gage. If crimp does not gage

properly, remove E-Clip, push pin

far enough so it can be turned, then

position the pin so that the next

sequential number on the pin is

facing the dot on the tool. Push the

pin while jiggling the handle to seat

the pin. Install E-Clip (#4). Repeat

until crimp gages properly.

Removal of (#2)

Middle Handle Pin with

Two E-Clips

1.  If necessary, existing middle handle

pin with two E-Clips (#2) can be

removed by first removing one of

the two E-Clips. Pry one of the

E-Clips away from the pin using a

flat heat screwdriver. (See Removal

of E-Clip (#4) for illustration).

2.  Push the pin while jiggling

the middle handle until you

can grab the other side of the

pin, with E-Clip, and pull the pin

out completely.

Installation of (#2)

Middle Handle Pin with

Two E-Clips

1.  To install a new middle handle pin

with two E-Clips (#2) first remove

one of the two E-Clips that are

attached to the new pin. This is

accomplished by holding the pin

securely between the E-Clips

with pliers while pulling one of the

E-Clips from the pin with needle

nose pliers. Insert the pin through

the aligned holes of the upper and

middle handles until the pin is fully

seated and the groove on the other

side of the pin clears the surface of

the tool.

2.  Install the E-Clip that was

previously removed from the pin

by first placing the E-Clip on the

surface of the tool with its opening

positioned around the groove in

the pin. Use needle nose pliers to

push the E-Clip onto the pin until it

snaps into place. (See Installation

of E-Clip (#4) for illustration). (Note:

The E-Clip will rotate freely but

should not come off without prying

with force.)
