Battery service
NOTE:
Before inspection or dismounting the battery, be sure to turn of the engine and turn the nega-
tive ground cable switch to "OFF" position.
NOTE:
When removing the battery, always disconnect the negative ground cable first. The reverse when
installing the battery, always connect the ground cable last. This prevents a possible explosion caused by
sparks.
Always wear eye protection when working with the battery.
•
Check the battery for deformation.
•
In case of deformation, the battery must be re-
placed.
•
The battery cover (ventilation hole) should al-
ways be kept clean.
•
Check whether the battery terminal connec-
tion is loose. If necessary, retighten it.
NOTE:
Pay attention to tighten the positive screw,
and ensure that the used tool does not touch the
battery cover.
16.2.13
Charging the battery
NOTE:
When disconnecting the cable from the battery, start with the negative terminal first. When
connecting the cable to the battery, start with the positive terminal first.
•
Do not check the battery charge by applying a metal object across the terminals.
•
For slow charging of the battery, connect the battery positive terminal to the charge positive ter-
minal and the negative to the negative, then recharge the battery as usual.
•
A boost charge should only be used for emergencies. It will partially charge the battery at a high
rate and in a short time. When using a boost-charged battery, it is necessary to recharge the bat-
tery as early as possible. Failure to do this will shorten the battery's service life.
•
Do not smoke when charging the battery. Keep the battery away from open flames and sparks.
Oxyhydrogen gas, which is produced during charging of the battery, is explosive.
•
When exchanging an old battery for a new one, only use batteries with the same specification.
•
Avoid overheating when charging the battery. Ensure sufficient air supply so that no heat can ac-
cumulate.
•
Allow the battery to cool down after intensive use before recharging it.
•
Allow the battery to cool down immediately after charging.
16.2.14
Lubrication of the swing bearing teeth
•
Fill with grease via the grease nipple (on the
right side of the machine).
•
Lubricate at an angle of 90° (1.58 rad) (in relation
to the position of the upper carriage to the
lower carriage) to the swivel frame.
•
Add about 50 g of grease in each position de-
scribed above (approx. 20 strokes with the
grease gun).
•
Then distribute the grease over the teeth.
16.2.15
Check and clean the air filter element
NOTE:
•
Wear eye protection when cleaning with compressed air.
•
Never operate the machine without an air filter or with an air filter that has not been maintained!
•
Keep the air filter element free of oil.
