4.5. Alerts
BlackKite-Fleet, can notify the user about the change in vehicle parameters, through an alert mech-
anism. The device can generate both SMS and GPRS alerts.
4.5.1. Authorization
SMS alerts can be enabled for any three users, in the Access Control List. Let’s assume a scenario in
which alert notification to an administrator with number "+919444118448" needs to be enabled,
and alert notification to the manager with number "+919123456789" needs to disabled. The con-
figuration can be done through the Configurator GUI or through commands as shown below.

1. Click
Authentication
button on the
Configuration
menu.
2. In the row corresponding to

Enable
in the
Alerts Privilege
field.
3. In the row corresponding to
+919123456789
, select
Disable
in the
Alerts Privilege
field.
4.5.1.2. Configuring through Commands
The command sequence is provided below:
1. Send
ADD 919444118448,1,1,0
, to enable alerts for the administrator.
2. Send
ADD 919123456789,0,0,0
, to disable alerts for the manager.
3. Send
SAVE
for changes to take effect.
4.5.2. Timezone Setting
When SMS alerts are sent to notify events, the device adds an event timestamp and location info, to
the SMS message. The timezone to be used while presenting the event time, can be configured. Let’s
consider a scenario in which the device is to be installed in Egypt. The timezone can be configured
through the Configurator GUI or through commands as shown below.

2. Choose the timezone offset "+02:00" from the
Timezone
field.
