Setting the Gateway Parameters
Detailed settings for GW3100 communications and operation are made with the gateway
parameters. There are the following three ways to set the gateway parameters.
•
Automatic parameter setting with self configuration
•
Setting parameters with the Configuration Tool
•
Setting parameters with an M-III Command
Setting the gateway parameters with the above three methods is described below.
Automatic Parameter Setting with Self Configuration
You can execute self configuration by turning ON the CNFG pin on the DIP switch and then
turning ON the power supply or you can execute it by using a command on the Configuration
Tool.
When self configuration is executed, the connected M-II slave stations are detected and suit-
able gateway parameter settings are created based on the results.
Setting Parameters with the Configuration Tool
You can set the gateway parameters on the interface provided by the Configuration Tool. You
set the items and then click the
Write
Button to write the settings to the gateway parameters.
Refer to the following section for detailed setting procedures.
6.5 Setting Parameters with the Configuration Tool
Setting Parameters with the PRM_WR Command
You can use the M-III PRM_WR command from the M-III master station connected to the
GW3100 to write the gateway parameter settings.
Refer to the following section for details on the PRM_WR command.
8.1.2 Write Parameter Command (PRM_WR: 02 Hex)
The relevant parameters are listed below.
Gateway Settings
M-III Port Communications Settings
In Transparent Mode (MODE pin = ON), you cannot write the parameter settings during cyclic
communications. Write the parameter settings with event-driven communications or change to
I/O Gateway Mode (MODE pin = OFF) and write the parameter settings with cyclic communica-
tions.
