Chapter 7

Options

7-1. Optional

Bluetooth™

wireless

communication

The DF870 provides Bluetooth™ wireless communication as an option. Bluetooth™ wireless communication
allows you to use the DF870 communication software without a cable. For inquiries about Bluetooth™
wireless communication, contact your vendor.
Note that if you purchase any factory installation options after the purchase of the DF870, you need to send
your DF870 back to the factory beforehand. Then, if the DF870 is designed for certifications, it needs to be
inspected and repaired at Yamato Scale’s head office (Akashi City, Hyogo Prefecture).

7-2.

Communication distance of

Bluetooth™ wireless communication

 Communication distance

Shown below is the communication distance of Bluetooth™ wireless communication (measurement
condition: when a PC is installed at a height of about two meters from the floor). For example, if a
270×180(cm) cabinet is placed between the DF870 and the PC, the communication distance decreases to
about 10 meters. Therefore, we recommend installing the DF870 within the radius of 10 meters from the
PC.

About 10 m

 Factors affecting the communication range

Bluetooth™ wireless communication uses 2.4GHz band, which has the properties of high directivity,
meaning that the signals are difficult to bend around obstacles. Therefore, if you block a communication
path by placing a cabinet or other object, the communication distance may become extremely short.
Furthermore, because moisture easily absorbs radio waves, the state of high humidity shortens the
communication distance. The human body contains large amounts of moisture, thus absorbing radio
waves. For this reason, if there is someone standing on the communication path, he/she may block the
communication. While there is no need to worry about glass which passes light because it also passes
radio waves, pay attention to metal and concrete because they block radio waves.

7-3.

Paring for Bluetooth™ wireless

communication

Bluetooth™ wireless communication permits the communication of only paired devices. To connect to
another PC, you need to unpair the paired PC first. If your PC does not have Bluetooth™ function, use an
external Bluetooth™ adapter.
