3. Check:
• front drive shaft
Bends
→
Replace.
• torque limiter
Loose
→
Replace the front drive shaft.
WARNING
Do not attempt to straighten a bent shaft;
this may dangerously weaken the shaft.

CHECKING THE GEAR MOTOR
1. Check:
• gear motor

a. Connect two C size batteries to the gear
motor terminals

(as shown in the illustra-
tions).
CAUTION:
• Do not use a 12 V battery to operate the
pinion gear.
• Do not connect the batteries to the gear
motor when it is installed in the gear
case. The gear motor should be checked
when it is removed from the gear case.

Check that the pinion gear

turns counter-
clockwise.

Check that the pinion gear
2
turns clockwise.
NOTE:
Do not disassemble the gear motor or remove
the pinion gear.

• molybdenum disulfide grease
(into the ball joint assembly)

Molybdenum disulfide grease is included in the
repair kit.
