Power Up
Caution:
“Factory Trained personnel” must complete the “Power up” procedure!
7.1
Power Up the Device
a. Remove the 1.6A fuse on the termination card. Refer to Figure 6-4 for fuse location.
b. Turn on the power to the detector.
c. Check the DC voltage at the input power (+24 & Ground) terminals on the termination card is between 18
VDC to 30 VDC (Nominal 24 VDC). Disconnect the power immediately if the supply voltage is above
30VDC or less than 18VDC and troubleshoot the trouble condition.
d. Replace the fuse when the measured voltage is OK. The system takes approximately 15 seconds to
power up during which time an LED test sequence is performed.
7.2
LED Behavior - Power Up
During power up, the following LED behavior is exhibited by the detector:
a. LED off: 24 VDC input power is off or VLC is waiting for panel communications.
b. LED illuminates for 3 seconds then goes off: Device is performing power up self-test (device reset cycle).
Notes:
l
If LED does not illuminate for 3 seconds during start-up as described above (b) it may be necessary to
reset the AutoPulse control panel.
l
If AutoPulse control panel configuration data already contains the VLC-605 the panel will clear the “No
Answer” trouble when the VLC-605 is powered and completes initialization.
l
If the AutoPulse control panel configuration data does not contain the VLC-605 the panel will initiate a
trouble condition. The VLC-605 must be added to the panel configuration to clear this trouble. Refer to
chapter 8 on page 21 for details.
7.3
