Lubrication
The
Lubrication
section of the Service Manual provides instructions for lubrication. In general, the printer
requires no periodic lubrication. When lubrication is required, instructions are provided within the
Replacement Notes
section of the disassembly procedure.

Plastic parts will deteriorate when unspecified grease and chemicals are
used, such as WD-40
®
and Locktite
®
Threadlocker. To avoid damage, use
only
the grease specified in the
Lubrication
section of the Service Manual.
To avoid stripping screw threads in the plastic printer frame, technicians
must use the correct method for installing them. If a thread is stripped, the
hardware kit contains silver-blue tinted repair screws. The repair screws
have a slightly larger diameter than the standard screw. Most screws in the
printer should be tightened to 12 in-lbs of torque using a torque
screwdriver. In some cases, other torque settings are required. Always
refer to the replacement procedures in the Service Manual for the correct
torque settings.
To avoid damage when repairing the printer, use a torque screwdriver such as
Xerox part number 003082700 to install the screws.
