Control Panel Defaults
When setting up a Phaser 8400, 8500, or 8550 printer for the first time, users may need to select the following
Control Panel defaults. Because the menus are different for Phaser 8400 printers when compared to
Phaser 8500 and 8550 menus, the menu path for choosing each default can vary by printer model. Refer to
the
Menu Map
or the printer’s user documentation for instructions.
Control Panel Lab
If a printer is available, use the
Menu Map
as a guide to set the following Control Panel defaults:
1.
Tray 1 paper type and size
2.
Tray 2 paper type
3.
Startup Page (set to “OFF”)
4.
Network settings for your network (if applicable)
5.
Cleaning page source (if a 525-Sheet Feeder is installed)
Test Ports
The
Test Ports
topic of the multimedia training explains how to test the printer’s Ethernet and
USB ports from a Windows 2000 PC. This lesson provides additional procedures for testing the
communication ports. Refer to the
Phaser 8400 Reference Guide
or
Phaser 8500/8550 User
Guide
when completing this section. Electronic versions are available from the training
CD-ROM’s
Resources
section.

power on the printer.

Select the cleaning page source if the printer has more than one 525-Sheet
