SETTING
THE
CHARGING
PROGRAM
The charging program can be set by pressing the
‘mode’ pushbutton on the front
of the charger. Set the ProMax 200 to the correct program before mounting
the case. The battery may be connected already but this is not a requirement.
The setup of the charger consists out of three phases:
➔
First the application needs to be determined;
‘on
-
board’ use or ‘
stand-
alone’ use (see explanation below).
➔
In the second step, the charging setting is determined
➔
As last step presence of the optional temperature sensor can be made.
The combination of these three adjustments determines the charging program.
If the charger is being set for the first time a ‘2’ will appear in the display screen
and the green led located under ‘charge process’ will come on. This charging
program is the default factory setting.
Important
The battery manufacturer determines with which voltages the battery must
be charged.
Since each brand and type of battery has its own charging
instructions, the charging programs listed are purely advice.
For example,
AGM batteries often have different charging recommendations. We therefore
use two recommendations for this battery. Always check if the recommended
charging program matches with the charging instructions for your battery.
See the charging specifications in the appendix. If not, please contact your
battery supplier for another suitable setting. Under no circumstances must
the charge program be set arbitrarily. This can lead to irreparable damage
of the battery and any devices which may be connected.
Application
Because the presence of consumers influences the charging process, we
distinguish this in the available charging programs. This allows the charger to be
optimized even further for the respective application.
- On board
There are consumers present during the charging process. The charger will
indirectly supply the present devices. When charging a (partially) empty battery,
the current consumption of the devices is therefore at the expense of the
charging current for charging the battery.
- Stand alone:
The opposite of on board use. There are no consumers present during the
charging process. After use of the battery, it is connected to the charger or the
