CONNECTING THE XP500.1
IMPORTANT NOTICE!
Disconnect the positive battery terminal
(+12V) or remove the main fuse near the car
battery before any wiring work!
Please note that the power supply of the car
must remain disconnected until the entire
wiring installation is completed.
Power Cables
The optimal recommended power cable cross-
section (average cable length: 5 m) of main
power supply cable for the full rated output
power of the XP500.1 is 20 mm
2
for both +12V
and chassis ground connection. Using main
power cables with smaller cross-sections can
result in unnecessary over-heating of the
amplifier circuitry, limited output power (espe-
cially at 2 Ohms load) distortion at high volume
levels and may also cause the thermal protec-
tion circuitry to shut-off the amplifier.
Basic Wiring Installation and
Cable Routing Tips!
Use rubber grommets when running cables
through any metal or sharp plastic to prevent
accidental shorting or shearing. Make sure the
cables do not interfere with normal operation
of the vehicle.
When connecting cables to the direct connec-
ting screw terminals (power and speaker
connections), make sure no fine litz stranding
is sticking out of the terminal holes, which
could cause shorting to the amplifier chassis
ground or neighbouring terminals.
Especially the
music signal cables
(RCA inter-
connects)
should be kept far away from the
power cables and any potential sources of
electrical interference
e.g. electronic vehicle
management systems (engine computers,
relays etc.) fuel pumps, wiring harnesses etc.!
Use only double or triple shielded quality
cables! In case of severe car-inherent inter-
ference, it might also be advisable to use
„parallel symmetrical” RCA interconnects (ask
your X-PULSE dealer for more information).
INPUT MODES
The XP500.1 is a mono subwoofer amplifier
incorporating a differential input signal cir-
cuitry and offering two input modes:
1-Channel/Mono-Input
is effected by using
only one RCA input socket on the XP500.1. For
the 1-Channel/MONO input mode
the LEFT
1-CHANNEL/MONO RCA INPUT socket must
be used!
This single channel signal connection
will automatically switch the amplifier to
1-Channel Input Mode.
PLEASE NOTE: The XP500.1 might not operate
correctly and may produce a humming noise if
you connect the RIGHT RCA INPUT only or if you
are using a mono signal for both inputs
(LEFT/MONO & RIGHT).
2-Channel Stereo Input
is effected by using a
stereo signal with both RCA input sockets
LEFT and RIGHT on the XP500.1.
