MOUNTING THE XP500.1
AMPLIFIER LOCATION
The location of the amplifier should be care-
fully selected and in the interest of passive
driver and passenger safety the amplifier must
also be securely mounted. Check the suitability
of your preferred amplifier location carefully
before starting the installation. The mounting
location should be either in the boot or in the
passenger compartment. The actual mounting
surface should be completely flat.
Please note that the amplifier location must
allow for a good airflow across and through
the amplifier housing.
The air outlet for the
power supply ventilation is hidden underneath
the detachable side panel on the signal
input/control panel side of the amplifier (see
fig.1). Adequate ventilation will optimize the
performance of the XP500.1 and improve long-
term stability dramatically. Good mounting
locations for your digital subwoofer amplifier
can be found e.g. under the passenger seat in
the boot or on a stable mounting board made
from MDF (medium desity fibre-board).
Make sure there is no wiring harness, fuel tank
etc. behind or below the mounting surface, that
may be damaged by the drilling of the
holes for the amplifier mounting
screws.
Ideally after installation there
should be a clearance of at
least 5 cm on all sides inclu-
ding the fan outlet on top of
the amplifier.
Make sure the unit is not
exposed to direct sunlight,
humidity, water, oil or spill of
other fluids that may enter the
amplifier. Even after installati-
on the amplifier location
should allow easy access of
all Lowpass and Subsonic
side panel controls.
MOUNTING THE XP500.1
Remove the side panels
from the amplifier as
shown in fig. 1 using the supplied 3 mm allen
key in order to access the four mounting holes
on the four outside corners of the XP500.1
Use the amplifier as a template for the mar-
king of the mounting holes
on the selected
mounting surface with pencil or felt-tip.
Pilot-drill the mounting holes on the mounting
surface
using a 2,5mm or 3mm drill.
Mount the amplifier in place
using the sup-
plied self-tapping screws with the supplied
rubber grommets (see fig.1).
The rubber grom-
mets protect the amplifier from electrical
ground-loops
that can easily result in audible
hum! Secure the amplifier in its position by
tightening the screws evenly and re-check
proper fit after completion.
Remount the side panels
using the supplied
inside hex/allen screws.
