Whirlpool Compact Front Load Washer
COMPONENT ACCESS
WARNING
Electrical Shock Hazard
Disconnect power before servicing.
Failure to do so can result in death or
electrical shock.
Replace all parts and panels before operating.
To Remove the Heater and Thermistor
1.
Unplug washer or disconnect power.
2.
Turn off water supply to washer.
3.
Disconnect cold inlet water hose and remove the drain
hose from the standpipe or laundry tub.

Remove four (4) 7 mm hex-head screws securing the rear
access panel to the back panel as indicated in Figure 1.
Remove the rear access panel.

. Remove all connectors from the heater and temperature
thermistor (see Figure 2).

Remove the 10 mm screw securing the heater cover to
the tub. Remove the heater cover.

. Loosen the heater’s 10 mm compression nut (to the right
of the thermistor), but do not remove it completely.

Gently pull the heater assembly from the tub.
Reinstall Notes

. For reinstallation, make sure the new heater is going to be
put underneath the clamp that is fixed on the bottom of
the tub.
2.
Turn the drum slowly after the new heater has been
installed, to make sure the heater is not touching the
drum.
3.
Run cycle for leak testing.
