UALIFICATIONS
Allow only responsible, properly instructed individuals to operate machine. Become familiar with the
controls, operation, and use of machine under the supervision of a trained and experienced operator.
The operator must be familiar with the workplace’s safety rules and regulations, and must be
mentally and physically capable of operating the machine safely.
Never use drugs or alcohol while operating machine. If taking prescription or over-the-counter
medications, consult a medical professional prior to operating machine regarding potential side
effects that could hinder operational safety.
Never use a cell phone or mobile device while operating the machine.

ROTECTION
Eye protection must consist of wraparound safety glasses or goggles.
Hearing protection is required when operating machine. Hearing protection devices provide different
levels of sound protection. It is important to select a device that is adequate and appropriate for your
specific work environment. Actual sound levels may vary widely, depending on your working
conditions. To determine the level of hearing protection your work environment requires, enlist the
help of your local environmental specialist.
Wear close-fitting clothing and confine long hair to reduce the risk of being entangled in moving
components.
Wear gloves when working near hot asphalt.
Avoid wearing jewelry, such as rings, wristwatches, bracelets, necklaces, or piercings.
Other operators, crew members, or workers in the immediate area must also wear appropriate PPE
and follow these guidelines.
WARNING
Operating the machine will require you to wear personal protective
equipment (PPE).
Always wear:
•eye protection
•safety shoes or boots
•hearing protection
Some working conditions and regulations may require the use of other
appropriate PPE, such as a hard hat, gloves, face shield, reflective clothing,
or any other PPE necessary to provide proper safety protection for the work
being performed. Always wear a hard hat when under a conveyor.
