3) Tyres

Your WAYSCRAL bike is fitted with 26” tyres. Check the tyre pressures regularly.

Riding with insufficiently inflated or over-inflated tyres can adversely affect performance, cause

premature wear, result in damage to the rim, reduce battery life or increase the risk of accidents.

If a significant wear or a tear is visible on one of the tyres, replace it before using the bike.

4) Brakes

Before to each use, ensure the front and rear brakes are in perfect working order. The right handle

activates your rear brake, while the left handle activates the front brake. It is recommended to distribute

your braking force to 60/40 on average between the front and the rear. The brake lever must not come

into contact with the handlebar and the sheaths must not be bent at a sharp angle so that the cables slide

with minimal friction. Damages, frayed or rusty cables must be replaced immediately. Your WAYSCRAL

bike is equipped with V-Brake brakes on the front and rear wheels.

Warning: In case of rain or wet weather, braking distances are extended.

V-Brake brakes

The jaws must close properly on the edge of the rims. The brake pads must be at an equal distance from

the rim (approx. 3mm). The condition of the rim contributes greatly to the effectiveness of braking, so it

is advisable to clean it regularly.

You should be able to achieve maximum braking power without the brake levers touching the handles.

If this is not the case, your brakes must be adjusted.

-  A nut and locknut system allows you to adjust the braking force that will vary over time depending on

the wear of the brake pads.

-  The Phillips screw with spring will allow you to compensate for the wear of the brake pads and ensure

the correct position of the brakes on both sides of the rim. The brake pads are standard, replace them

as soon as the wear indicator is reached.

Changing the brake pads

Use a standard hex wrench. Once unscrewed, the brake pads can be easily removed. Clean the rim

sides before installing the new brake pads. If your rim is worn out or damaged, replace it in order to avoid

deterioration of the new brake pads. When installing new brake pads, pay attention as certain brake

pads need to be set up in a specific direction in relation to the direction of travel of the wheel. If this is the

case, it will generally be signalled on the exterior of the brake pad, by means of a small arrow. In the

event that the brake pads are asymmetric, - that is, that the fastening stud is not midway down the length

of the pad – they must be set up in such a way that the longer section is facing the back of the fork.

Adjusting the brake pads

Loosen the brake caliper cable in order to install the brake pads. They must be parallel to the rim and at

a distance of around one to three millimetres from it. They should under no circumstances touch the

tyres. If the brake pads are too far from the rim, the braking force will be decreased. If, on the other hand,

they are too close or against the wheel, the pads will wear out rapidly and may in some cases cause a

blockage of the wheel. Do not forget that the new brake pads must be worn in. Wearing in can be

performed by riding for a few minutes and operating the brakes, alternating between abrupt stops and

light braking. Verify once more the alignment of the brake pads, and if they have not moved, you may set

off riding.

Headlight

Attach the headlight bracket to the handlebar, as close as possible to

the centre with the supplied clip. Insert the headlight on the handlebar

by pushing firmly. To insert the batteries, the headlight can be opened

by applying pressure on the transparent oval piece of plastic located

on the headlight. Insert the two batteries (LR 6 AA), observing the

correct polarity. The headlight is turned on and off by moving the grey

switch.

Taillight

Insert the two batteries (LR 6 AA), observing the correct polarity.

The taillight is turned on and off by moving the small switch located on

the side of the light.

Wearing a helmet

For safe operation, it is strongly advised to wear a helmet.

It guarantees a reduction in head trauma in the event of a fall.

Wearing helmets is compulsory for children under the age of 12 as drivers or passengers.

For more information, enquire from your reseller.

Bell

A bell is installed on your handlebars. It will allow you to be heard from a distance of 50m.

The bell is a safety equipment of your bike, it must be present on your handlebars.

2)  Adjusting the seat and the handlebars

It is important to adapt the settings of your bike to your

body type.

Seat

Loosen the seat post’s quick-release mechanism to

adjust the height of the seat on the frame. Adjust the

height and tighten the seat post clamp.

To check the correct height of the seat, you must be

seated with your legs outstretched and your heel resting

on the pedal (fig. A). When pedalling, the knee should be

slightly bent when the foot reaches the lowest

position(fig. B).

When adjusting the seat to its lowest position, make sure

that it does not touch any part of the bike, such as the

protective cover of the battery. Similarly, make sure you

don’t exceed the minimum insertion mark on the seat

tube. This insertion mark must never be visible when

using the bike. A child seat can be set up on your bike if

the seat's springs are protected.

Warning: In order to prevent entrapment of the child’s

fingers, do not set up an infant carrier on a seat with

unprotected springs.

Handlebars

The handlebars of your bike can be adjusted both in height and tilt.

Your bike is equipped with a so-called “quill” stem; you may adjust the height by either inserting

into or pulling out the stem from the head tube.

To adjust the handlebar height, loosen the clamping screw with an Allen hex wrench and raise

the stem to the desired height (figure 1).

Be careful not to exceed the maximum insertion mark of the stem above the headset (figure 2).

Tighten the quill stem bolt, ensuring the quill is in the correct position.

To adjust the handlebar incline, loosen the front screw with an Allen hex wrench (figure 3).
