Install one control horn assembly onto the elevator,
aligning the center of the control horn with the mark you drew
and making sure that the front of the control horn mounting
plates are 1/8" behind the hinge line.
IMPORTANT
Install the control horn from the bottom of the
elevator so that the long machine screw comes out on top of
the elevator.
❑
Carefully thread one nylon adjustable control horn onto
the long machine screw until the top of the control horn is
even with the top of the screw, then snap the clevis into the
control horn.
☞
The notch in the control horn should be up, as shown.
IMPORTANT
Hold the machine screw in place using
needle nose pliers while threading the adjustable control
horn into place.
❑
Place a "single arm" servo horn onto the elevator servo, making sure that the servo horn is centered and points
up
toward the
top
of the fuselage. The arm should have at least three holes in it.
❑
Plug the elevator servo lead into its proper slot in your receiver. Plug the ESC lead into your receiver and plug the flight
battery into your ESC . Turn on your radio system and center the servo using the elevator trim lever on your transmitter.
WARNING
Before continuing, slide one nylon pushrod support over the plain end of the pushrod wire.
❑
With both the servo horn and the elevator centered, use
a pencil to draw a mark on the pushrod wire where it crosses
the hole that is 1/2" out from the center of the servo horn.
☞
If you're using Cirrus CS-10 servos this will be the third
hole in the servo arm.
❑
Using Magnum Z-Bend Pliers, make a Z-Bend in the pushrod wire at the mark you drew and use wire cutters to
remove the excess wire.
❑
Remove the servo horn. Using a 1/16" drill bit, enlarge the hole in the servo arm that is 1/2" out from the center of the
servo horn.
☞
Don't overtighten the machine screws. You want to hold the control horn firmly in place, but you don't want to crush
the foam.
❑
Thread one nylon clevis onto one of the M1.5 x 400 threaded pushrod wires. Thread the clevis on far enough to leave
room for adjustments later.
