Step 2: Installing the Elevator, Rudder & Aileron Servos
❑
Install the rubber grommets and brass collets onto the elevator, rudder and aileron servo mounting lugs.
☞
When installing the collets, make sure that the flanges are toward the
bottom
of the mounting lugs.
❑
Test-fit one servo into each side of the fuselage. If the
servos are too large to fit, use a modeling knife to enlarge the
holes to accommodate the servos. A precut hole is provided
to run the servo leads into the cockpit area.
☞
Both of the servos' output shafts should face toward the
front
of the fuselage.
❑
Mount the servos using the servo mounting screws provided with your servos. To make it easier to install the screws,
use the tip of your modeling knife to make small pilot holes in the servo mounting board.
❑
Install the two aileron servos using the same techniques.
Again, a precut hole is provided to run the servo leads into
the cockpit area.
☞
Both of the servos' output shafts should face toward the
front
of the fuselage.
❑
Use the same techniques to install the aileron servo
mounting board onto each side of the fuselage.
☞
After installing the aileron servo mounting boards,
carefully trim away the portion of the mounting boards that
overlap onto the fuselage top deck, using a modeling knife.
Step 3: Installing the Elevator Pushrod Assembly
❑
Using a ruler and a pencil, measure out 3/8" from the side of the fuselage (at the elevator hinge line) and draw a mark
on the bottom of only one elevator half.
☞
This mark is how far out the control horn should be installed on the elevator.
