2. Directly plumbing unit into a production process
The BlackMaxx™ RB8
RO is designed to run on a signal(s) from a level-sensing device(s). There
are 2 inputs on the control board (120 VAC) that will start/stop the RO, on either low/high level.
It can be configured to run in a process line, provided the unit will not be starting and stopping
frequently.
If the process requires the system to start more than 2 times per hour
then a buffer
tank, with a 20-minute minimum storage capacity, should be employed. See next section.
3. Using an atmospheric pressure (non-pressurized) storage tank and float switch
The BlackMaxx™ RB8
RO is designed to run on a signal from a level-sensing device(s) (120 VAC
contact). The device is required to be
normally open in the high-level (off) position
to shut down
the system in the Auto Run Mode. The level controls must be wired into the control box according to
the supplied wiring diagram.
NOTE: When the system is run in manual mode the level control
device is by-passed.
Ensure the storage tank selected is large enough to provide adequate water for your peak demand
period. Keep in mind that atmospheric water storage vessels are subject to contamination by
airborne bacteria – they should include a lid, be sanitized before use and periodically disinfected.
The RO product water will have no chlorine residual and will be subject to contamination at all stages
in the plumbing system. Consider inline UV disinfection, as an option for all water being pumped
from the storage tank into the plumbing system if post-RO chemical disinfection is not being used.
If the permeate is to remain in the tank for a period of more than 1 day without a disinfection residual
being added, a recirculation loop with a UV disinfection or an in-tank UV unit is recommended.
Consult your Waterite dealer for UV system sizing.
Ensure the permeate inlet fitting to a non-pressurized storage tank is placed above the maximum
water level and overflow in the tank. This provides an air gap between the RO system and the stored
permeate water. Should the stored water become contaminated for any reason, no cross
contamination can occur back to the RB8 system.
Consult your Waterite dealer for information and availability on a wide variety of water system
components including storage tanks, rep-pressurization pumps, bulkheads, tube, pipe fittings,
pressure switches, fittings, UV disinfection systems and float valves.
Section 3. Installation
!
INSPECT THE UNIT UPON ITS ARRIVAL FOR ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY HAVE OCCURRED
DURING SHIPPING. ALL RB8 UNITS ARE FACTORY TESTED FOR ELECTRICAL & SYSTEM
INTEGRITY PRIOR TO SHIPPING.
Your system includes:
The main RO/filter assembly frame comes fully assembled with pre-filter(s), booster pump,
membrane housing(s), flow controls, pressure gauges, electrical cabinet, piping, actuated
ball valves and flow meters.
2 to 24 membrane elements, depending on unit purchased, in a sealed plastic bag and 1-2
or 5-micron polypropylene sediment cartridge;
One owner’s package including your owner’s Manual, warranty certificate, and electrical
drawings.
All major components manufacturer manuals have been included with this
RB8 operation manual in your package. Please take the time to familiarize yourself
with the individual components prior to starting the system.
