1. INTRODUCTION.
1. INTRODUCTION.
(a) Welcome to the hand wash drier unit. This unit has been designed and constructed from
quality materials to a high standard. The handwash unit can only be installed in a frost-
free or frost protected environment to avoid damage due to freezing pipes. All water
supply pipes to & within the handwash must be suitably insulated from freezing.
(b) Contained within the packing box in addition to these instructions is:
1 x CME hand wash drier unit,
2 x Installation mounting plates fitted with unit fixing bolts & adjustment nuts,
1 x drawer lock key, 1 x soap liquid (2.5ltr),
1 x Product Manual.
(c) Technically qualified staff should carry out the following instructions. If you have any
further queries about installing or commissioning the handwash unit, help should be
obtained from Wallgate Ltd using the contact details on the front page here.
(d) Details on how to use, care for and service the hand wash unit are contained in the
Operating & Maintenance section of this manual
.
2.SITE PREPARATION.
(a) Prepare an opening in the wall surface, accurate to the dimensions shown in drawing
“INSCME_45” on page 4. It is important that the aperture is square and within tolerance to
the stated dimensions as there is very little overlap of the unit fascia (approx 10mm). If
preferable the unit could be fitted as the block work proceeds and a timber lining will also
greatly improve the aperture accuracy. In existing buildings it may be preferable to build a
stud wall to house the unit as an alternative to preparing an aperture in the wall.
(b) The unit is held between two metal mounting plates that are fixed to each side of the
aperture. If support is required above the aperture then a suitable lintel must be installed.
(c) Complete all surface finishes (i.e. screed, plaster or tiling) to the wall before fixing the
mounting brackets, as these must be fitted flush with the finished surface.
(d) An electrical supply should be provided with a switched fused spur-13Amp, double pole
connection point that is local to the unit (the contact separation of the fused spur switch
should be at least 3mm). A suitable cable with a minimum conductor size of 1.5mm sq.
should be connected to the fused spur switch ready for connection to the unit.
(e) A mains cold water supply with a min pressure of 1.75bar should be provided within the
wall cavity below the aperture and terminated with a suitable isolating tap. Final
connection to the handwash unit water inlet (15mm compression) may be made with a
flexible mains rated (WRC approved) hose. If the unit is to be connected to a gravity
(tank) fed supply further advice should be requested from Wallgate.
(f) A waste outlet connection of 32mm (1¼”) should be provided within the wall cavity below
the aperture.
3. APPLIANCE PREPARATION & FITTING.
(a) Remove the unit mounting plates from the packing box. They are packed inside plastic
bubble & placed to one side on top of the handwash unit.
(b) Fit the mounting brackets to the aperture sides ensuring that they are perfectly level
horizontally & vertically with each other. Screw holes are provided on each plate to secure
them, ensure that the screws are of a suitable size (No 10 x 30mm long minimum).
Remove the four unit fixing bolts & washers from the mounting plates & retain in a safe
place. Do not remove the brass nuts fitted to the bushes on the plates but ensure that
they are fully screwed onto each bush hand tight only.
(c) The unit should not be lifted out of the packing box. Instead, cut down each of the box
corners and lay the sides down flat. Remove the pack containing the keys & retain in a
