Moving Average Input Measurement Values
Short-term and periodic disturbances of the analog input signal in the
F I/O module can be attenuated to reduce the impact on the process image. A
moving average is formed over successive input measurements of a channel,
corresponding to the selected moving average value.
Moving average is a low-pass filter for the analog input signal. For further
evaluation, the moving average value of the last (n) input measured values is
used. “n” corresponds to the set number of input measured values that were set
in the “Moving average” parameter. The higher the value “n”, the lower the cut-off
frequency of the low-pass filter
Moving average affects the response time of the F I/O module to a change in the
analog input signal. The larger the number of values (n), the longer it takes for a
modified analog input value to become visible in the process image of the
F I/O module.
Required number of samples must be present!
As long as the required number of sample values is not available, non-smoothed
values are output in the input process image during startup, after an error
acknowledgment or after parameters are changed.
The settings are made via the “
Moving Average
” parameter, which is described
in Section “Commissioning” > … > “Setting Parameters”.
