For proper operation of the Auto-Replace function, the following requirements
must be met:
• The Auto-Replace function must be activated in the module configuration.
• Maximum 16 SMI drives are in the SMI line at the same time.
• Only one SMI drive is removed an only one new SMI drive inserted.
• The new SMI drive replaces the SMI drive to be replaced at the same
address.
The Auto-Replace function is activated by default.

Personal injury or property damage possible if power is interrupted when
assigning addresses
If the power supply is interrupted while the SMI master is assigning addresses,
the SMI drive addresses may be transposed.
The behavior of the SMI drives during travel commands is then unpredictable.
This can lead to personal injury and property damage.
In this case, the system must be checked completely and switched off until
recommissioned.
