Controller Locking
This function allows you to lock the SMI drives, e.g., to conduct maintenance.
The SMI drives can be then be moved to the forced position.
However, motion commands are not canceled.
You can activate and deactivate controller locking via extended control byte C1.

Energy Saving Mode
The SMI master module can be set to switch to energy saving mode after a
configurable period of time with no activity on the SMI bus. The internal SMI
power supply is switched off.
In the factory default setting, energy saving mode is deactivated.
As an alternative to automatic activation and deactivation, energy saving mode
can also be manually activated and deactivated in the process data via extended
control byte C1.
The I/O module switches to energy saving mode at the following events:
• Rising edge to bit 1 in extended control byte C1
• Configured time to timeout has elapsed
The I/O module exits energy saving mode at the following events:
• Falling edge to bit 1 in extended control byte C1
• Incoming SMI motion command
If both the timeout and bit in the process image are used as the mechanism, the
first triggering event activates and deactivates the energy saving function.

4.1.7.1 Activating the Energy Saving Function via Timeout
If the timeout is configured in the SMI master module, then the maximum total
travel time of the shutters installed in the system must be taken into account.
The maximum total travel time is the sum of the duration of the longest travel time
of the shutters and the duration of the travel time of the slats (see section
“Function Description” > … > “Positioning Shutters and Slats”).
