Operator
presence
system
The Ride-On Trowel features a seat with an integrated “operator presence” system
which works in conjunction with a throttle-mounted switch. This system allows the
engine to remain running (idling) with no operator seated in the seat, as long as the
throttle is not depressed.
The purpose of the “operator presence” system is to reduce the throttle to idle if the
operator leaves the seat. The “operator presence” system meets requirement
published by organizations such as OSHA, ANSI, and ISO.
Learning to
operate the
trowel
To familiarize a new operator with the Ride-On Trowel, the following steps should
be taken:
1. With the operator in the seat, show him or her the functions of the steering
levers
(c)
and how to start the machine.
2. Have the operator practice steering the trowel. A hard concrete slab slightly
wetted with water is an ideal surface on which to practice.
3. Pitch the blades up approximately 6.35 mm (¼") on the leading edge. Start by
making the machine hover in one spot, and then practice moving the machine in
a straight line and making 180° turns. The best control is achieved at full rpm.
