8 Checking the microscope foot pedal
8.1 Push the large buttons on the
lower part (Focus up and down) of
the microscope foot pedal. The focus plain of the microscopic
view moves down and up.

8.2 Push the large buttons on the
upper part (Zoom up and down) of
the microscope foot pedal. The microscopic view zooms in and
out.

8.3 Move the joystick up, down, to
the left and to the right. The microscopic view moves up,
down, to the right and to the left.

9 Checking the surgical instruments
9.1 Verify that all three instruments
(cataract or vitreoretinal) are con-
nected to the correct ports of the
simulator PC. The instruments are connected.

9.2 Introduce an instrument into
the artificial eye and move it
around. Depending on the training
module only certain instruments
are allowed. Tap the
Instruments
tab on the touch screen to see
which instruments are allowed.
Introduce the allowed instruments
one after another.
In vitreoretinal training modules,
activate auxiliary optics using
the corresponding button on the
microscope foot pedal; in addition,
always use the light source, other-
wise you will see nothing.
You should see the virtual instru-
ments through the microscope fol-
lowing your movements.

10 Checking the instrument foot pedal
10.1 Press down the instrument
foot pedal. You should notice a reaction of the
vitrector/phaco instrument (sound,
visual feedback).

