Safety precautions

Never work alone when installing heavy com-
ponents, even when using secure lifting equip-
ment such as a lockable block and tackle. Most
lifting devices require two people, one to see
to the lifting device and one to ensure that the
components do not get caught and damaged.
The components in the electrical system, the
ignition system (gasoline/petrol engines) and
in the fuel system on Volvo Penta products are
designed and manufactured to minimise risks
of fire and explosion. Engines should not run in
environments containing explosive media.
Always use fuels recommended by Volvo Penta.
Refer to the Operators’s Manual. Use of fuels
that are of a lower quality can damage the en-
gine. On a diesel engine poor quality fuel can
cause the fuel control rack to stick causing the
engine to overspeed with resulting risk of dam-
age to the engine and personal injury. Poor fuel
quality can also lead to higher maintenance
costs.
