Route the single black wire in the power supply wiring harness from the control unit -2- of the parking distance
control system to the vehicle's earthing point -1-.
Connect the single black wire to the vehicle's earthing point -1-.
Use cable ties to secure the buzzer wires and the single black wire from the earthing point to the existing wiring
in the vehicle.

Unlock the plug -2- and then pull it away from the connecting socket -1- on the right tailgate light.
Wind approximately 100 mm of the harness protective tape on the vehicle wiring up to the plug -2-.
Cut the car's blue/black wire, approximately 50 mm from the plug connector -2-.
Crimp one end of the black / blue wire -3- in a duraseal connector -4-.
Crimp the free end of the black/blue wire -6- and the red wire -5- of the power harness together in the crimp

Remove the bumper cover.
Exterior bodywork tasks; Repair Group 63; bumper; rear bumper; removing and refitting the bumper covering
Center punch the marked drilling spots -2- on the bumper cover -1- and drill using a
∅
2 mm bit.
Apply masking tape liberally in the areas where the holes are to be drilled in order to protect the bumper covering.
Use an
∅
20 mm Forstner or stepped drill bit to drill the holes from the outside.
To counter the rotation of the sensors, an upward-pointing notch -arrow- about 1 mm deep is needed in the
boreholes.
File an upward-pointing notch -arrow- with a small triangular file in all four boreholes.
Deburr the holes for the sensors in the bumper cover.
Remove the luggage cover if there is one.

Route the individual connection wires from the
sensor
harness -1- from the inside of the bumper covering to the
outside. At the same time, note the wire numbering; wire 1 must face forwards in the left hand hole drilled in the
bumper covering, and the remaining 2 - 4 wires must be fitted consecutively.
Use a suitable cleaner, e.g. industrial alcohol, to degrease the site for fitting the two cable tie retaining plates
-arrows- inside the bumper cover.
Stick the retaining plates -arrows- in position and use cable ties to secure the harness to the retaining plates.

Remove the cable crimp from the wiring grommet -2- of the
sensor -1- harness supplied.
Move the wiring grommet -2- approx. 400 mm in the direction of the sensor holes and then secure the wiring
grommet in this position using a new cable tie supplied in the package.
Remove the original grommet (see Page 6, Fig 2, -arrow-).
Page 6 - Fig. 2
Refit the bumper cover by following the reverse sequence and pull the wires through the opening of the original
grommet and inside the car at the same time.
Close the opening inside the car with the grommet -arrow- from the wiring kit.
