The original parking distance control system should be fitted by an authorised workshop. Incorrect fitting may lead
to damage to the vehicle or the parking distance control system.
◆
The original parking distance control system is not suitable for being fitted in vehicles with subsequent lowering
(sport suspension, etc.).

The work to be performed described in these fitting instructions may change due to model servicing schedules.
For example, changes to the wiring colours or even the fitting sites should not be discounted. For this reason,
always consult the relevant up-to-date wiring diagram or the current vehicle repair manual.

Painting the sensors
Note
◆
Do not use a silicon remover to clean the sensors prior to painting, rather use a mild alcohol, e.g. methylated
spirits.
◆
When painting the sensors leave them in the packaging supplied, this is provided as a painting device.

The figure gives an example of the protective rings -1- already placed in the correct position on the sensors -4-.
Place the covering rings -2- on the rubber membranes of the sensors -3-.
Paint sensors -3- and -4- and the spacers (not shown) evenly but not too thickly and in the same colour as the car.
Remove the covering rings -1- and -2- carefully directly after painting (while the paint is still wet) using tweezers
and let the paint dry.
Repaint as necessary after drying (e.g. clear lacquer for twin coat painting).

Switch off all electrical equipment and the ignition and remove the ignition key from the ignition.

The four sensor mounting holes must be drilled in the positions marked -2- on the inside of the bumper covering -1-
. The outer positions marked (not illustrated) for the sensors of the parking steering assistant must not be drilled!
Remove the bumper cover.

Center punch the marked drilling spots -2- on the bumper cover -1- and drill using a

2 mm bit.
Apply masking tape liberally in the areas where the holes are to be drilled in order to protect the bumper covering.
