Instructions relative to the refrigerant R290
WARNINGS
Always observe the safety and warning instructions specific to devices containing the R290
environment-friendly coolant (Propane).
R290 belongs to the safety group A3 as set out by DIN EN 378-1.
The device’s technical design ensures long-term sealing.
The coolant filling volume is less than 150g.
Use the device only in the appropriate Virax unit.
Prior to commissioning, leave the device open for 5 min.
In the event of a leak, the highly flammable coolant may form an explosive gas-air mix; this may cause
fire or explosions, causing a fire hazard.
Therefore, move any sources of ignition (heat, sparks, and naked flame) away.
Locate easily flammable objects 2m away from the device in all directions.
When defrosting, use only Virax-approved devices.
In the event of a leak of refrigerant due to a defect in the unit, follow the following instructions:
−
In the case of inhalation:
Remove the individual from the exposed area, keep him warm and at rest. Apply oxygen if necessary.
Provide artificial respiration if breathing ceases or presents signs of failing. In the event of a cardiac
arrest provide an external cardiac massage. Immediately alert the doctor.
−
In the case of contact with the skin:
Defrost the affected area with warm water. Remove infected clothing. Warning, the clothing can stick
to the skin in the case of cold burns.
−
In the case of contact with the eyes:
Rinse immediately with an ocular solution or clear water and maintain the eyelids apart for at least 10
minutes. Immediately alert the doctor.
Caution:
In the case of thermal disintegration (pyrolysis) of the refrigerant (e.g. in the event of a fire) noxious
and corrosive vapours are formed. Carbon oxides (CO, CO2)
