The safety valve must be installed.
Recommendation: Install the safety valve higher than the top edge of
the cylinder. This protects the valve against contamination, scaling and
high temperatures. The DHW cylinder does not then need to be
drained when working on the safety valve.
6.7 Ventilation mode (Vitocal 160-A for extract mode)
Airtight building envelope
The air in domestic accommodation should ideally be changed at a
rate of 0.5/h. This means that the total air volume within the building
will be changed every 2 hours.
The building envelope must be as airtight as possible to ensure a
defined air change solely by adjusting the fan on the Vitocal 160-A.
Whether a building is airtight can be verified by the "blower door
test". During this test, a fan creates a pressure differential of 50 Pa
(0.5 mbar) between the inside and outside of the building.
Fire safety
There is no special requirement for fire safety in detached houses.
The pipework material for extract mode must be non-combustible, e.g.
the pipes available as accessories.
Where fire protection sections and fire walls are penetrated in buildings
with more than 2 floors, observe the local building regulations.
Applicability
The central extract system may only be used in a single finite unit (e.g.
in a detached house or in an apartment). According to the Thermal
Insulation Order [Germany], several small flats or apartments should
not be vented by a common system due to the lack of controllability by
the individual users.
This extract system is unsuitable for use in commercial properties (e.g.
restaurant, shops, etc.). Its use as an extract system in swimming
pools, garages or special accommodation is not permitted.
Operational cycle
If extract pipework is installed with ventilation elements, the fan of the
heat pump module operates permanently, if possible (continuous
operation, see page 8). If the fan is
switched off
for a long time there
is a
risk
of an inadequate air change, which can lead to structural
damage.
*3
According to DIN 1988-2, a drinking water filter should be installed in systems with metal pipework. Viessmann also recommends the instal-
lation of a drinking water filter when using plastic pipes, as per DIN 1988, to prevent contaminants entering the DHW system.
