FLYWHEEL KNIFE CARE
12.1
How long will my Woodchipper Knives last?
We get asked this question very often. Victory woodchippers are equipped with knives made from
very high-quality tool steel. All woodchipper knives will be dull over time and require sharpening or
replacing.
You will get the most extended life if you treat the knives with the same respect as your chainsaw
chain. Follow the guidelines below to get the most out of your chipper knives.
P
n
Be kind to your woodchipper knives.
Although they are made of high-quality
steel, they are not indestructible.
All chippers will perform better when
chipping fresh, green, clean limbs.
n
The moisture in the limbs lubricates the
knives and reduces friction.
n
Do not attempt to chip rotten wood; it
will plug your woodchipper.
P
n
You can chip dry material; this will wear
the knives faster than fresh green
material.
n
Use your best judgment on this type of
material.
n
Try to avoid dirty limbs since the dirt is
abrasive and will reduce life expectancy.
O
n
Always avoid material that may contain
nails or foreign metal objects.
Treat your woodchipper knives as you would a chain saw chain or the blades of a lawnmower. Be
conscious of what you feed into the woodchipper, and you will get a lot of work out of a set of
knives.
