Figure 2 - Example of V1500 System on a Wide Area Network
It is important that the bandwidth capability of the WAN connections is sufficient to support real-time
performance of the system. The table below can be used as a guideline to determine the bandwidth
requirements at each site. The bandwidth requirements for the V1500CPU WAN connection is the sum of all
remote sites. For example, a typical V1500CDU with the following specifications:
•
128 monitors connected to the video control and titler application cards
•
512 alarms on 2 alarm ports
•
two serial cards, each with 1 keypad and 1 receiver port
would require the following bandwidth (refer to the table below).
Bandwidth requirements for this example =
(# monitors x 200) + (# titling monitors x 1000) + (2 keypad ports x 10,000) + (2 receiver ports X 10,000) + (2 alarm ports x 1000)
= (128x200) + (128x1000) + (2x10,000) + (2x10,000) + (2x1000) = 195,600 bits/sec.
Table 5 - Bandwidth Requirements
Bits/second Function
200
Each video switching monitor.
1000
Each alarm port.
1000
Each titling monitor.
10,000
Each keypad port.
10,000
Each receiver port.
40,000
Each host port.
Your routers (you can use any Cisco router, software revision 12.0 or higher) must support multicasting,
which is the method that the
V1500CDU
s use to identify the main V1500CPU. You do not need to perform this
procedure if you are not on a WAN.
